We had a lecture and a discussion with regards to color psychology, and when/how we tend to use different colors for different effects, moods, and emotions.
In brief, color psychology is a study of hues and tones used to stimulate certain human behavior, when we present visual media.
Below are a few pointers of the aspects related to a selection of colours:
Blue-
- Cool & Calming
- Symbolizes sky & Heaven
Yellow-
- Happiness, optimism, inspiration, summer & warmth
- New and Modern
- Sunny feel, without excess brightness
Purple-
- Stimulates imagination
- Royalty, luxury & wealth
- Wise, relaxing & Romantic
Red-
- Confidence, love, energy & excitement
- Most psychologically stimulating colour
- Passionate, outgoing & courageous
Green-
- Colour of nature
- Calm, relaxing, joyful & filled with life
- Balance, stability & persistence
Pink-
- Perceived as feminine, innocent & romantic
- Technically part of the red colour, but is a more tranquil colour
